Take a look at the timelapse video of the USNS Mercy going on dry dock last week at Alabama Shipyard.Every docking evolution requires thorough planning and coordination, with every step being just as important as the next.Using tugs, line handlers, divers, and careful maneuvering, the vessel is precisely positioned over the dock blocks. Once vessel alignment is confirmed, the dewatering process begins, slowly lifting the dry dock and vessel out of the water to enable access to the underwater hull for inspection, repairs, and maintenance. We applaud our hardworking team for completing another safe and successful docking.
