A Member's Story:

"My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and had been going through many treatments as we worked with an oncologist. At one point he said her body couldn't take more chemo, so we needed to get a particular chemo patch. She would need about a dozen of these patches, then he'd let us know if she needed more after that. Of course, we were going to do whatever it took. The doctor wrote the prescription and sent it in. I went to the pharmacy to pick it up and the pharmacist was devastated as she told me the patches were $13,000.00 apiece. I was not prepared to cover that amount on the spot, so I told the pharmacist I'd come back after I figured some things out. We'd already worked with our LegalShield Provider Firm here in Texas through much of wife's treatment so, I thought I'd call them to see if there was anything that could be done. The lawyers listened as I shared the details and they had me send in our health insurance papers for review. I did then went on with stuff I had to do. I was able to move money around so I was prepared to pay the $13,000.00 or more to get her started on the patch she needed. The next day, I walked back in to the same pharmacy and the same pharmacist got a bewildered look on her face when she saw me, and as I approached she said something like 'I don't know who you are or what you did, but your insurance company called us and approved this prescription ... all you owe is $20.00 for the copay.'. Turns out, my law firm called my insurance company. With as many patches as she ended up using, LegalShield saved our family about $200,000.00 on this one occasion."

Member's Experience:

Involving a local motel. I recently rented a room at a local motel. Upon entering the room it looked clean but within minutes I discovered that the room was very unsanitary. Bad weather was coming and everyone was urged to seek shelter, so it was not advisable to search for another hotel at that time. There was a large wad of hair laying on top of the bed. Baby roaches 🪳 🪳 🪳 came running out of the microwave when I opened it (talking about a roach motel 😂). When I told the hotel manager he stated that he was aware of the roaches and was doing everything he could to resolve the matter. He said had I told him when I first got there he would have addressed the matter. He rushed off the phone with me as quickly as he could. Before we got off the phone he said he’d make it right at my next visit. Obviously I told him there would be no next visit 🤮.

He left right after I checked in 🤔🙄 so how could I have told him? I called the corporate office and spoke to someone about the matter and made a complaint. I was emailed a letter with a very very small partial refund offer (it was an insult), they didn’t even offer a full refund and barely enough to get lunch if I wanted. It was seriously an insult. I contacted the BBB and the company responded by lying saying they ISSUED me a refund. Needless to say, I called my provider attorney (I should have done that to begin with). My attorney wrote a letter to them and I received an email asking what my address was for a refund check of the full amount. The attorney wrote a very nice letter to the company. The attorney was very nice and also stated he felt a full refund was the appropriate thing in this matter.

After making this post my provider attorney called me following up to see if I needed anything further from him.
