Switchback Shout-out #2!

This one goes out to our amazing VP! Allie Ouendag is the Vice President of Switchback Records, studying journalism and pursuing a certificate in entertainment management through the UM School of Business.

Originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan Allie originally moved to Missoula in order to ski, however fell in love with the arts community and transferred to the university this fall.

Allie is currently working to expand the coverage of the local Missoula arts and music scene as a freelance reporter for the Missoula Current. She has covered nearly every show that stopped through town last summer and has interviewed acts such as Trampled by Turtles, Lake Street Dive, and Todd Snider. This summer she will be working as a publicity intern for Verve Records in Brooklyn, New York.

Allie is most passionate about using Switchback to strengthen the local music scene by giving a platform to local musicians to perform paid gigs and share their music.

Allie has been such a massive help with Switchback this year, and has always been up for new roles and responsibilities - if you've been to a Switchback show at Market on Front for example, the booking, setup and marketing for all of those shows has been done by Allie! She is an outstanding member of our team - thanks Allie!!!

SWITCHBACK SHOUT-OUT #1

For our very first Switchback shout-out, were featuring Stephen Jay Clement! They are a Missoula-born singer, songwriter, and actor that joined the Switchback family this year!

With a background of undergraduate studies in musical theatre, music composition, and ecomusicology at the University of Montana, Stephen draws inspiration from a broad variety of musical, theatrical, and environmental influences.

Authenticity, introspection, and advocacy rest at the core of Stephen’s colorfully crafted lyrics; lyrics that won them the title of Missoula’s best musician in the 2021 Best of Missoula Awards.

On a personal note, Stephen has been an amazing person to work with, and I am confident they are going to do massively impressive things in the future. They also agreed to perform one time with two hours notice after an artist I had booked had to cancel, so a giant thanks to Stephen for always being so positive, helpful and kind!

We need your help to make sure you love our show, so comment who you want to perform (we're looking to book six bands/artists) and what you want it to be called! We might make your idea the official festival title, so make it your own!

RECORD WITH US FOR FREE! To support local Missoula music in another awesome way, our very own student member Jamison Talley will be hosting weekly recording, production, and songwriting sessions for anyone who wants to have their own music produced professionally and learn about the sound engineering of music - FOR FREE!

Jamison, a freshman at the U of M studying computer science, has already had more experience producing music than most will have in a lifetime. He landed an internship at a major record label where he worked with professional producers on big name artists in Washington DC! Now we have a studio space set up on Sundays during the spring semester that has professional-grade microphones, mixing boards, and everything else we need to make your music sound great! The studio is on the third floor of the College of Business!
