It’s okay. You can say it. Summer break is not for you. We totally get it. The days are looong. Entertaining our kiddos 24/7 without the structure of school can be physically and emotionally overwhelming. Paying for the camps, the gear for the camps, or the extra help needed to get a break or get things done, can be financially draining. It’s okay to not love summer. Deep breaths as we enter this season, bet remember it’s just that.. only a season!

With Juneteenth coming this Friday, we want to acknowledge that Juneteenth is more than a moment in history—it is a reminder of resilience, delayed justice, and the ongoing pursuit of true freedom.

As a mental health community, we recognize that the legacy of slavery did not end in 1865. Its impact continues to shape lived experiences, access to care, and trust within systems today. Honoring Juneteenth means acknowledging both the progress that has been made and the work that still remains.

We are committed to creating spaces where Black individuals feel seen, heard, and supported—where healing is not only possible, but prioritized. This includes recognizing the strength within the Black community while also addressing the very real barriers that exist in mental health care.

Today, we honor Black history, Black resilience, and Black healing. And we remain dedicated to doing our part in fostering equity, understanding, and lasting change.

That’s right. Every stage of parenting brings its own set of challenges and joys.

But guess what? You don’t have to like aaaaalllllll the phases to love your child.

Maybe the Lego phase numbs your brain. Maybe you love baby snuggles, but not so much the three-nager stage. You may be counting the days until your newborn seems more like a person and just want some sleep OR surprised that you may love the teenage years that everyone tells you are awful. (Meeka dug them by the way.)

May is here with all its celebrations, and all the celebrations of motherhood. Anyone who has lost a child gets lost in the shuffle. It’s a quiet and isolating grief that leaves you unseen. Please know that Centimano Counseling sees you.

As you look to the weekend with apprehension, dread, sadness, anger, confusion, and pain, take care of yourself. Use this opportunity to fill your bucket. To honor what is lost and to celebrate that you will always be a mother.

We would love to hear more about your baby and honor their life, however short. Please feel free to name them in the comments below with anything you want the world to know. 🤍
