Farmers and ranchers a question most people never get asked until it's too late:
If you got hurt tomorrow and couldn't work for six months, what happens to your loan payments?
The equipment note. The operating line. The land. Those payments don't pause just because you're laid up. The bank still wants its money, and the work still has to get done somehow.
Most folks assume their regular disability insurance would cover it but a lot of those policies stop paying long before a loan is paid off, and using them up on loan payments leaves nothing for your family to live on.
There's a specific kind of coverage built exactly for this. It's designed to keep your loan payments going if you can't work without touching the coverage that protects your household. It covers equipment loans, operating lines, real estate, all of it. And honestly, it's something a lot of lenders are starting to require anyway.
I work with farm and ranch families across North Dakota on exactly this. If you've got debt tied to your operation and you've never thought about what happens to it if you're out of commission, let's have a conversation. No hard sell I'll just explain how it works in plain English and you can decide what makes sense for you.

Myth-Busting
Your employer's group coverage is great but it has limits. Income caps, portability issues, and coverage gaps that matter more as your wealth grows.
Executive insurance protects what group plans don't: ✓ Higher coverage limits ✓ Portable (stays with you if you change jobs) ✓ Customized to YOUR financial picture
Most physicians, attorneys, and dentists don't realize they're underinsured until it's too late.

Insurance Edition 🤔
Myth: "My business is too small to offer health insurance - I only have 5 employees."
Reality: There's no minimum employee requirement for group health insurance in North Dakota! Even if you have just 2 employees, you can offer group coverage.
Why does this matter? Small businesses often lose great employees to bigger companies because they think they "can't compete" on benefits. But you absolutely can - even with a tiny team.
Bonus: Group plans often have better rates than individual plans, so your employees save money AND you become a more competitive employer.
Questions about benefits for small teams? That's literally what I do. Drop me a message.

Gov. Kelly Armstrong announced today that the State of North Dakota is directing more than $1.5 million in state funds to support food assistance programs during the ongoing federal shutdown.
These funds will help the Great Plains Food Bank distribute hundreds of thousands of pounds of food to families across the state and provide support for WIC participants during the month of November. The governor also encouraged North Dakotans to donate food or funds to their local pantries to help meet growing needs in their communities.
Here in Minot, several local organizations continue to serve our neighbors through soup kitchens and food pantries each week. The schedule and contact information can be found in the graphic below, courtesy of the Minot Public Library.
If you’re in need of assistance—or able to lend a hand through donations or volunteering—please reach out to one of these local partners. Together, we can ensure no one in our community goes hungry.
