โœจ Meet our Farm Beginnings students! Little Green Gardens

Little Green Gardens is a one-woman operation run by Amber Portillo in Driscoll, ND. Her mission for the farm is to provide locally grown, fresh, and delicious products to the community. She believes everyone deserves access to healthy, nutritious food, and is committed to making that a reality.

The farm produces a wide range of fruits and vegetables, small-batch jellies, and other value-added goods. Amber also raises goats for handmade goat milk soap and is expanding her poultry production for eggs and meat.๐Ÿ๐Ÿฅš

Farm Beginnings played a helpful role in her journey. She said, "I learned a lot of things I didn't know I needed to know but it was great learning from people who are currently working and doing the things I hope to do."

โœจ Meet our Farm Beginnings students! Turkey Road Farm & Massage Alchemy Botanicals

Jeff Bueche and Shannon Radcliffe Bueche have thoughtfully transformed their rural farmstand into an herb and berry farm near Casselton for over 25 years. They focus on creating botanical products, wellness offerings, and educational classes, rooted in the healing power of plants and plan to continue to share their farm's abundance with the larger community.

๐Ÿ‡ When asked their favorite thing to grow, they both said elderberries. Jeff loves them because they make amazing syrup and jelly, they're easy to take care of once they're established, and they're really pretty. Shannon agrees, and also loves them because they make amazing medicines, teas, and are protectors of the farm.

Farm Beginnings has had a meaningful impact on them both. Shannon described the program's framework for working through personal and shared values as "game-changing" for how they approach business decisions together. Jeff added that "even with all the research we've already done, the course introduced us to opportunities we had no idea existed."

Getting ready to film your Conservation Quick Clip?

Good lighting is the secret to making your video look clear and professional, and the best part is that nature gives you everything you need.
Try these easy tips the next time you pull out your phone:

๐ŸŒค Cloudy day? Perfect. Overcast skies soften shadows and give your video even lighting.
๐ŸŒ… Film during golden hour. The hour after sunrise or before sunset creates warm, flattering light for outdoor clips.
๐Ÿก Shooting indoors? Set up near a window for clean sideโ€‘lighting that shows texture and detail.
๐Ÿ“ท Tip: If you are filming outside, put your subject between the camera and the sun to avoid harsh backlighting.

Simple lighting choices can make your conservation story shine.
