For most people, their knowledge about World War II is limited to what they learned in high school. Twin Cities-based author Jonathan Parshall is about to launch a new book about the year that sparked a turning point jn World War 11.

The launch event for 1942: Crux of War will take place on Friday, July 17 at Ft. Snelling in St. Paul. Parshall previewed the launch event on WCCO's Mid-Morning on July 13. Preview stories have also been published by Star Tribune, Pioneer Press and Patch.com.

Jonathan Parshall is well known on the national stage. He serves as a guest commentator on the just released “World War II with Tom Hanks,” a 20-part documentary series that premiered on the History Channel on Memorial Day 2026. He has also appeared on the History Channel, Discovery Channel, Netflix and the BBC.
