Big things are coming , but for now it's the small things that are making this feel like MY shop. Taking the time to spruce up a dumpstered fan or put my ugly speaker into a new enclosure. That pan is about to get a new handle from an old bicycle. Everything is finding it's place.

Covid set me over a week behind on everything, so now that I'm feeling better (and not contagious) I've been buckling down and trying to get all these new lamps done for my pop-up gallery next week.

Again, I'm heading back to old ideas that I kept putting on the back burner to make "marketable" lamps. These are lamps with stories. Some true. Some fiction. These are things I should have finished ages ago, but I'm excited to finally be following through. And so grateful to be able to spend time in the shop! Being stuck at home was crazymaking!

The last couple photos are some other things I've been working on. Just need to grab some yellow paint for the salt girl. (I only had pink on hand)

Progress has been slow, but it's still progress. I end up doing a lot of this alone at 5 o'clock in the morning. Up and down. Up and down, with wood and tools and hardware. So far though, everything except nuts and bolts and screws has been salvaged.

This morning, I framed up this wall. I didn't have enough 3/8" plywood do to the whole thing, but I had an old window! Not planning to live up there. (unless the economy keeps going the way it is, LOL) I just don't want to tumble off of there onto the brick floor in the bay. Getting that window mounted by myself was a bit tricky, but I managed not to drop it.

I just need to get some scrap metal racks built and then I can start loading this thing up.

If you've ever wondered what it's like to live in my head, this workbench explains it pretty clearly.

I'm very excited to have this lamp on display at .and.that.2731 Luminaries show. I started this lamp 5-10 years ago after finding an absolutely amazing haul in a dumpster. I started adding a lot of my favorite finds, but it's the biggest lamp I've ever built (it's taller than me) and for one reason or another it stalled. Maybe it felt daunting, or the winter doldrums hit. Who knows?

What I do know is that this show provided the impetus to finish it! And I'm really happy with it!

It's hard to get a good picture of it because there's not a spot in the house without arts and treasures. So come see it and turn the switches for yourself.
