“A Black Swan Song" written by Cory Dean and illustrated by Gaby Verdooren takes flight today! 🦢🖤

In the summer of 2016, a black swan was discovered swimming in the backwaters of the Minnesota river. “A Black Swan Song” tells the true story of the mysterious bird swimming and flying through the seasons from its first sighting to its last.

“In life, there is often beauty and meaning in hardship,” writes Cory, a clinical psychologist at the Department of Veterans Affairs. The story of the black swan teaches young readers that wonder and grief can coexist, and offers them a framework for understanding the impact humans can have on nature.
