I thought a lot yesterday (Father's Day) about the men I have met along my journey in Tanzania. I met men that have let their daughters know that they are a priority and that their education and safety is equally as important. These men are helping their daughters end the cycle of oppression. These men are giving their daughters a chance to make change in a country that still greatly lacks basic human needs. If more fathers encourage and ensure their daughters learn, and live a safe and productive life then positive change will continue!!
I'm amazed at the amount of work accomplished in the Simbasha dispensary in such a short period of time. When a village works together, so much can be achieved!
I have not written since I arrived in Tanzania as I have had limited internet. I am so happy to be back and welcomed with open arms. I have spent many days in clinics and in Timbolo. Finishing work in the birthing room, storage room and pharmacy this week.
Why is International Women's Day Needed...here's one reason. We need International Women’s Day to remind ourselves that there are hundreds of millions of boys and girls are growing up in a world where violence against women is acceptable, female subjugation the norm. If lucky enough to celebrate our own journey, do so and continue to fight for those still oppressed because of gender.
