It was great to see the DoD and representatives from tribal nations across the American West come together to protect Indigenous cultural resources last week in Cheyenne Wyoming. Miigwech to Luther Sam for sharing this group photo of us all!
Those interested in archaeology, collaboration, and community empowerment will likely find this interview with Dr. Scott Brosowske (Courson Archaeological Research), Amanda Hill (Kiowa Tribal Historic Preservation Officer) and Hope Worthington (Indian Education Director for Carnegie Public Schools) very interesting. They discuss a recent field trip with Kiowa high school students that visited cultural and archaeological sites in the Texas Panhandle region. The trip was based on the Kiowa calendar and visited ancestral encampments, prayer sites, and sites of Indigenous resistance to colonization. Our Archaeo-Physics team was fortunate to receive a tour of several of these locations during a recent non-invasive geophysical investigation. More can be learned about this project during the plenary session at the 2026 SAA conference in San Francisco, California.
