The Troll Trophy is staying in Northfield for the first time since 2011! Oles new and old attended to honor junior linebacker Matt Lee.
Next week the Oles fight for the Goat at Carleton College.
Today we are deeply saddened by the passing of Coach Doug Johnson and Athletic Director Ryan Bowles.
From personal experience, Doug was an incredible person to be around. He made a special effort to connect with every player and was always excited to talk to you, even years after graduation. An Ole Football Alumni himself, Doug later opened his home in Northfield to other football coaches allowing them to live rent free and coach the game we all love.
Ryan was St. Olaf’s first full time Athletic Director and quickly made a permanent impact on St. Olaf. In Ryan’s time on the hill, he brought hockey on campus with a brand new rink, helped bring in the new turf field for football, helped update the Porter Hall weight room, helped Ole Football get a new locker room, and so much more. Athletics has often faced challenges at St. Olaf and Ryan truly fought for the student athletes.
Words cannot epress the gratitude I have for both Ryan and Doug. They will be remembered and deeply missed.
