We are deeply saddened by the loss of Dick Westby

Dick was a lifelong Seward resident, neighborhood historian, author, and friend. He dedicated countless hours to preserving and sharing the stories of our neighborhood's people, places, and struggles. His knowledge of neighborhood history was unmatched, but what made Dick truly special was his belief that history belonged to everyone. He understood that the stories of ordinary residents are what make our community great.

Over the years, Dick generously shared his knowledge with Redesign and many others, helping us better understand the history that informs our work today. His contributions strengthened not only our organization, but the entire community.

We are grateful for his wisdom, generosity, and commitment to the neighborhood. His legacy lives on in the stories he preserved, the people he inspired, and the neighborhood he loved so deeply.

Our thoughts are with Dick's family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

Thank you, Dick. You helped us remember who we are.
