Matthew Rucker Art

I’ll be making my annual trip from Minneapolis to Chicago this December to deliver and install paintings in time for the holidays! If you live anywhere along that path (Madison), I’m happy to offer free delivery and installation of any painting or fine art print during this trip. It’s a whirlwind of two days, with specific dates picked by winter weather. Guaranteed before Christmas.
For those who want a painting wrapped and opened for the holiday, I also offer delivery in a beautifully wrapped package.
I may have room for exactly one more commission on this trip - if interested, reach out ASAP.

Nothing says lazy days on the lake quite like the familiar call of the loon. No matter how often I hear that sound, I’ll always scan the water until I find its location, as it floats and disappears below the water’s surface. Closely connected to memories of home and cabin life, these birds are a strong symbol of calm and happiness in my life.

Words cannot describe how much fun I had putting the details on this little guy! Watching people connect to him this summer was a highlight of some very long and hot days.
Two more shows are on deck until next year!

Adding highlights and finishing touches, this fuzzy one is getting ready to make a debut in just a few weeks.
One of my favorite times of year - all new paintings for spring and summer coming out fast. I’ll be seeing you all in Minneapolis, Chicago, Denver, Madison, Ann Arbor, and more shows coming in the fall.

Every once in a while, I find myself singing random songs while I’m in my studio. Bits and pieces of my childhood tend to wander through my mind, and lines from “Rubber Ducky” get stuck in my head for hours at a time.
One weekend, my wife went to our cabin. On her way home she called and told me she’d had the song “Rubber Ducky” stuck in her head the entire time she was gone. She proceeded to sing the song to me, start to end, while she drove. I couldn’t stop laughing that she knew all the words, and I realized how many of the lyrics I sang incorrectly. This gave me a fun idea for a new painting. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
I’ll spare you adding the song to this post, but please know it was running through my head while I typed out this story for you.
The original and prints will premiere in my gallery, and online, this weekend during Art-a-Whirl. See my website for details. Link in bio.
