Don't throw that pineapple rind away just yet!

One of our favorite ways to stretch ingredients is by finding a second life for them. This pot isn't fancy... just pineapple rind, water, and a little sugar simmering away into a homemade simple syrup. (You can also toss in a cinnamon stick, vanilla bean, star anise, or fresh ginger if you're feeling adventurous.)

Then what...what do you do with it?

🍍 Stir a splash into homemade whipped cream.

🥞 Drizzle it over pancakes, waffles, or french toast.

🥣 Sweeten a yogurt parfait.

🍹 Mix it into iced tea, lemonade, or sparkling water on these hot summer days.

🧈 Brush it over muffins or scones while they're still warm.

🍍 Reduce it a little longer for a thicker syrup and make pineapple upside-down pancakes.

Sometimes getting more out of your groceries isn't about spending less it's just about thinking a little differently. Before you toss it, ask yourself, "Can this become something else?" Because that's where some of the best kitchen ideas start. ❤️
