Statement from Ritchie T. Martin, Jr.

Executive Director of the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center

The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center proudly celebrates the City of Waukesha's historic first-ever Pride Month Proclamation, issued by Mayor Alicia Halvensleben on June 2, 2026. This milestone reflects a meaningful commitment to equality, inclusion, and the recognition of LGBTQIA+ residents as valued members of the community.

I commend Mayor Halvensleben and the City of Waukesha for their leadership and vision in advancing a more welcoming and equitable future for all. This proclamation sends a powerful message that diversity strengthens communities and that every person deserves dignity, respect, and belonging.

I also extend heartfelt congratulations to PFLAG Waukesha and LGBT Waukesha for their unwavering advocacy and collaborative efforts. Their dedication to advancing visibility, acceptance, and equality helped make this historic achievement possible.

Today, we celebrate not only a proclamation but a significant step forward for progress, inclusion, and justice in Waukesha.
