Many people believe that if they have Power of Attorney for a loved one, that authority continues after death.

It doesn't.

A Power of Attorney ends immediately when a person passes away. Once death occurs, the individual who held Power of Attorney no longer has legal authority to make decisions on behalf of the deceased.
