Our Summer Environmental Interns jumped into field work this summer at Gaenslen School, helping care for one of Milwaukee's transformed Green & Healthy Schoolyards.

The team spent the day removing invasive species from the bioswale, pruning trees, removing old tree stakes, and tackling other maintenance projects that keep the schoolyard healthy, beautiful, and ready to support students and the surrounding community. Through hands-on field work like this, our interns are building real-world skills while learning how green infrastructure supports reduced flooding, enhanced biodiversity, and more publicly accessible green space in our communities. 💪 🌱

We’re excited to introduce our 2026 Summer Environmental Interns! 🌿 This group of high school students and recent graduates is currently taking part in Reflo’s Summer Environmental Internship program, gaining hands-on experience in environmental stewardship, climate education, and green infrastructure projects across Milwaukee-area sites.

Over 8 weeks (June 22–August 14), interns are working alongside mentors on real community-based projects while exploring career pathways in fields like engineering, urban forestry, environmental education, and water quality.

Stay tuned over the next few weeks as we dive deeper into what our interns have been up to! In the meantime, you can learn more about our interns and why they joined our Summer Environmental Internship program below.

Special thank you to our internship sponsors: Milwaukee Public Schools, The Nature Conservancy in Wisconsin and Milwaukee Recreation

We're so excited for the 10th Annual Green & Healthy Schools Conference, coming up on August 7th! Take a look at the tentative conference agenda below ⬇️

We're excited to share a first look at the tentative agenda for the 10th Annual Green and Healthy Schools Conference! Last month, our Conference Planning Work Group came together to review proposals, vote on session ideas, and help shape the experiences that will make this year's conference special—from breakout sessions and tours to exhibitors and networking opportunities. The information collected was used by the Conference Planning Work Group to finalize the session selections reflected on this agenda.

Many details are still in the works but this is a glimpse of what to expect at the upcoming conference. Thank you to everyone who submitted proposals and contributed to the planning process—we can't wait to gather with you on August 7th! 💚
