When people think of human trafficking, they often imagine strangers lurking in the shadows. But the reality is much closer to home. Most often, traffickers are people the victim already knows—family members, friends, romantic partners, or other trusted community members.

Awareness is the first step. Let’s continue shining light into the darkness together.

Out on outreach we often see familiar faces. It’s bittersweet—trust is building, but it also means the women are still out there. Some battling addiction, some not, all being watched by men who see them only as “money makers.”

Many say they’re “good.” But we know “good” can just mean better than where they were… or not as bad as it could be.
