Yuri Kochiyama was a civil rights activist that drew inspiration from Malcolm X and other leaders pursuing change in 1960’s America. A survivor of Japanese internment, Kochiyama spoke out against all kinds of oppression alongside African American, Asian American and Puerto Rican social justice leaders. Kochiyama was not only present for Malcolm X’s assassination, but was one of few individuals that ran to the slain leader to comfort him as he died.

This week we celebrated the Trinity Fellows Class of 2026 through our final retreat at the Casa Romero Renewal Center and Graduation Celebration. Please join us in congratulating this incredible cohort!
