Thumbnail sketches for the opening moments of Waiting for Godot

The decision to take on adapting Beckett for comix was made largely because I did not know anything about Beckett or his work, and simply found a filmed version of the play I had found on YouTube to be..incomprehensible—and yet I was moved to laughter and tears. This week I am making public the scope of my plans with the play. I have come to accept that this project will involve lots of waiting, and am inviting others to wait with me. These two issue represent the earliest, limited public iterations of a play that I will be working on and revising over the next several years. It will not by any means an exclusive project, rather a continuous sandbox for experimentation and play that may some day be fully sculpted onto the page. For now, there are innumerable errors in my sight, and likely more as I piece together the silent intentions of the illusive figure behind the play. Having said that, my current philosophy around comics and around this play in particular is that it is timely and doesn’t need to be finished in order for it to be fun. For those totally unfamiliar with the play, I’ve done my best to provide some clues to how to approach the strangeness. Words words words… at the end of the day, nothing to be done but to read and wait for the myriad revelations this enigmatic, theatrical koan has to be released into your awareness. Thanks again to everyone who came to The Locals event and picked up a zine! We raised 30$ exactly which will be sent to GiveWell’s maximum impact fund! 🥳 gracias to the wonderful amigas for organizing. Here are pictures that some others drew at my art table and a few moments from the zine. If you want one I can mail it! If you got one in the mail and want to donate drop a coin to , I am really all about them. If you live in Milwaukee I’ll be dropping these in little free libraries around the east side and riverwest soon!

I’ve been busy lately

Hey gang,
After six months of social media minimalism I am finding it harder to justify my absence at this particular time. Here are a few reasons: 1. My Capstone Project is focused on digital literacy and specifically how logic and rhetoric function beyond the classroom.
2. The next six months are going to be a big transition from school to career and this will involve making many new connections.
3. I want to continue to make comics, and the encouragement I get from friends and family does help motivate me to meet the goals I have for comic creation.
My hope is to be intentional about how I use these platforms, and to attempt this experiment again at a later time. I look forward to sharing my changes and creations and enjoying yours with a little more awareness. Bless you all!

For clarification: this picture is of me wearing a MUSE EEG, pretending to be a telepathic alien at a family gathering.
