Amani United was formed in 2012 in response to the Building Neighborhood Capacity Program (BNCP) as part of the White House’s Revitalization Initiative. The Dominican Center was the BNCP grant recipient that helped establish Amani United as the resident neighborhood association. Since then, Amani United and Dominican Center have worked closely together to implement the BNCP model and foster more resident involvement.

The Amani Block by Block housing pilot, launched in 2019, is taking a comprehensive, community-engaged approach to improve housing on one block at a time in the neighborhood.

Amani United and Dominican Center are key partners with CDA for the Amani Homeownership Initiative and the Amani Tax Incremental District (TID), currently being reviewed by the City of Milwaukee.
