For immediate release from the Town of Milton.

Town of Milton ballot printing error

Editor’s note: Town Clerk, Susan M. Galvin, has issued the following press release.

Town Clerk, Susan M. Galvin is notifying voters of a printing issue outside of the Town's control concerning certain ballots for the upcoming April 28, 2026 Annual Town Election. Specifically, the Town Clerk was notified that the error will make it likely that the vote tabulators will be unable to process vote-by-mail and absentee ballots mailed between April 9, 2026, and April 14, 2026. The vendor has already corrected the error, is reprinting ballots, and will expedite their delivery to the Town.

We want to be clear: all votes will be counted. Voters who have received ballots during this time are not required to take any further action. Voters who receive ballots on or after April 20, 2026 will not be impacted, and this issue will not affect in-person absentee voting or Election Day voting.

Ballots issued between April 9, 2026 and April 14, 2026 and returned to the Office of the Town Clerk will be securely transported to their designated polling locations on Election Day. The impacted ballots will be hand-counted at the close of polls in the same manner as any other hand-count and write-in ballots. The counting process is conducted at the polls in view of the public in strict accordance with safeguards established by the Massachusetts General Laws and the Secretary of the Commonwealth's regulations to ensure accuracy, transparency, and integrity.

This is to confirm that the Town Clerk and her team, after receiving notice from the print vendor, immediately implemented procedures to ensure that every ballot properly cast will be counted.

Any voter who has already returned their ballot or receives a ballot over the next few days is urged to contact the Office of the Town Clerk with any questions.

We understand the importance of public confidence in our elections and are committed to maintaining a secure, fair, and accurate voting process.

For questions or additional information, please contact Town Clerk, Susan M. Galvin.
