In October 2024, Connecticut’s United Illuminating (UI) received approval from the state Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) for a substantial rate increase that will impact residential electric bills. The approved rate hike means that UI customers could see an additional $30 per month added to their bills, driven by mandated programs and policies that pass costs through to customers without markup. The increase is part of a broader revenue adjustment mechanism required for state policy initiatives, affecting the delivery portion of UI bills.

Eversource, another major utility provider in the state, initially sought an 18.7% increase but will likely implement a more moderate increase due to projected drops in supply prices, according to PURA. These rate adjustments, which PURA commissioners narrowly approved in a 2-1 vote, will phase in by July 2025. However, the decision has faced criticism for placing an immediate financial burden on customers instead of distributing the costs over a longer period, which could have mitigated rate shock.

Whats up FB fam?!! I know you all have been missing my solar posts lol. I have been in transition from my position at Sunrun to being a solar broker.
