I first met the Larsons in 2024 at my holiday mini sessions. Almost a year later, they welcomed their new baby girl and L reached out for an in-home family session, which I happily accepted. As you may know, I rarely do family photos and only agree to the project if it feels like the right fit -- I want to make sure everything aligns and everyone is inspired by the art and photos that are going to be created. And because I met the Larsons the year before, I already knew how this session was going to flow.
They have a quiet warmth and a gentle presence that makes you feel at ease. Being let into their home as they welcomed their new baby was such a joy to experience, and I got a peek into their little world. As a wedding and couples photographer, photographing families doesn't always come easy to me (as artists, we all have strengths and weaknesses, right?), but this time with them reminded me that it didn't matter that family sessions aren't my "niche," and that the stories I care most about have never been defined by the occasion, but by the depth of the connection.β₯οΈ Nice, traditional family portraits are nice and are always good to have, but creating imagery that feels like your actual memories is what I'm most passionate about when it comes to sessions like this.
If you're dreaming about an artful or intimate family session that shows your personalities and connection, I'd love to hear it. Inquire in the link in my bio.ποΈ

Some photos of K & D on their windy November wedding day π
One of the best things you can do on your wedding day is to embrace the unexpected. It's not uncommon for wedding days to not go as planned, like the sometimes unpredictable weather, the timeline running behind, and some details that may be forgotten. But those unexpected moments complete the story of your day and they make your wedding unique to you.
So yeah, if it ends up being windy on your wedding day, starts raining, snowing, hailing... we will roll with it. You deserve to remember your wedding day the way it is. Plus, I think windy veil photos make for some pretty cool shots.π
If my approach resonates with you and you're looking for a photographer who can be laid back and chill despite the chaos, I'd love to hear from you. I work with couples whose priority is to celebrate and be with their people and value photos that feel like actual memories of their day and not just a record of it. If this sounds like you, I'd love to work together.π

More of A & T in San Diego βοΈ
We were supposed to shoot at a beach for the second part of our session after Balboa Park, but because of timing, we would've missed the sunset if we had driven farther (SoCal traffic, iykykπ). T drove us here instead and it was better than I could've imagined - the warm glow of the sun, the downtown San Diego skyline, and the purple and pink skies to end the day. This session made me realize that as artists, one of the greatest skills to have is our ability to adapt to change and embrace what's in front of us. Creating something beautiful begins with what we're willing to see.

Bride's POV while watching her husband and his mom dance π
Some of my favorite things to capture at weddings are these over the shoulder shots. They give a nice perspective of what the person is seeing and the photo ends up immersing you into the moment as a viewer. This also gives your gallery a more lived in experience, which is what I always aim to deliver to you. Your wedding photos aren't just photos - they're memories. And they should live as memories.π

Love celebrated in a place that feels like home β₯οΈ
Weddings are fun when we stop thinking of them as work and start thinking of ourselves as memory keepers. No rigid shot list in mind, just immersed in the celebration and witnessing how the day goes.
E & W's wedding day was full of laughter, warmth, and connection. They got married on their family's property where they would spend their childhood summers, which made the whole experience even more special. They had a big guest list and the space was filled with love. E & W truly value presence over performance, and their priority was to be with their people. It was so beautiful to witness how loved they are by many, and despite having over 100 guests, it felt intimate rather than grand - like a big family gathering. And to be there and experience this day with them is something I treasure so much.β₯οΈ

A & T engagements at Balboa Park βοΈ
The purest souls. It's so fun getting to spend time with A from time to time through the years. We went to the same school in the Philippines; she and my younger sister were in the same grade/classes and her brother and I are friends from the same class. Even though she's engaged now, I still see the little girl I knew from when her brother and I were teenagers.π T is just so amazing to her too. They're silly, thoughtful, and I can feel the effect they have on each other. It's so beautiful to see when we're hanging out, and I'm so glad we got to embody that at their engagement session.
P.S: San Diego is one of my favorite places! So if you're getting married or wanting photos done in SD, I'd love to chat.π₯°
