The podcast is making another visit to Northern Utah. UIAAA Connection #287 – Shanna Hales, Assistant Director of Athletics – Box Elder High School – is now available. Shanna grew up in Duchesne, Utah, where she competed as a four-sport athlete in volleyball, track, softball, and basketball. She later attended Southern Utah University, known as “The Coaching Factory,” and spent three years throwing the javelin. During the podcast, Shanna shares thoughtful insights about failure, emphasizing that growth and learning often emerge from difficult moments. She also reflects on the powerful influence educators and coaches can have on even one student’s life. Alongside professional responsibilities, she balances life as the mother of twins. Her advice encourages leaders to remember why they accepted the position, prioritize time with student-athletes, and intentionally schedule vacations to maintain balance and renewal.
