Midland Development Corporation

This morning, the Midland Development Corporation held its July board meeting.

During the meeting, the board approved an economic development agreement with the City of Midland to support infrastructure improvements on Briarwood Avenue, a project aimed at supporting future growth and development in the area. Board members also approved the FY 2026–2027 operating budget, a promotional agreement with the Midland Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and a resolution supporting the nomination of eligible census tracts for the federal Opportunity Zones 2.0 Program.

This meeting also included a presentation from UTPB’s Office of Innovation and Commercialization on the Southeast Midland Entrepreneurship Center proposal, the Executive Director’s report on May 2026 economic development activity and a presentation from our Business Development Coordinator on community engagement efforts!
