Fairview First Aid Squad

On September 11, 2001, the world stood still as tragedy struck the United States in one of the darkest days in our nation's history. Nearly 3,000 innocent lives were lost when terrorists hijacked four commercial airplanes, crashing them into the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and a field in Pennsylvania. The events of that day left a permanent scar on the nation but also revealed the strength, unity, and resilience of the American people. First responders ran toward danger, strangers became heroes, and a nation came together to mourn, to honor, and to rebuild.
• 343 firefighters from the New York City Fire Department (FDNY)
• 37 police officers from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Department (PAPD)
• 23 police officers from the New York City Police Department (NYPD)
• 8 emergency medical technicians and paramedics from private EMS units
• 1 patrolman from the New York Fire Patrol
These brave men and women, firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and rescue workers ran toward unimaginable danger with unwavering courage and selflessness. In the face of chaos, they chose duty over fear, giving their lives to save others. As we continue to serve our community, carry their spirit with you, and never forget the lives we lost on this day.

Fairview First Aid Squad regrets to announce the passing of Life Member, former Captain and former President, Joseph Blarr. Joseph exemplified the true definition of what it meant to be a volunteer, and he will be deeply missed by all. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this extremely difficult time.

The Middletown EMS Department is proud to congratulate Fairview First Aid Squad member Colette Lichtenstein on graduating the Union County College Paramedic Emergency Health Science program and passing her test to become a Nationally Registered Paramedic and New Jersey Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic!

MICP Lichtenstein joined the Middletown EMS Department under the Cadet program in 2016 then joined Fairview First Aid as an EMT in 2018. She rose the ranks to become the Captain of the NJIT First Aid Squad until 2022. During that time MICP Lichtenstein began working as a 911 EMT for Hackensack Meridian Health, with whom she will continue working, this time as a Paramedic in the Monmouth County area.
