THE FUTURE OF ART
Using facial recognition software (MANY OF YOU ARE FEATURED) and a batch loop screen capture program, I lifted (at random) 4444 photos from my Facebook Friends Profiles. I then used that data to weave together a repeating mosaic of 32 video layers each beginning one frame after the next. At 30 FPS, “CIRCADIA”, a warp speed mosaic is a visual metaphor of the energy being cocreated around the world via the social organism. The pulsating ripples may appear to be random but they closely resemble the circadian rhythm and mimic the pump of blood flow to and from the heart. This is no accident. Everything is connected and everything is energy. This is the future of Art.
GOAL: DAILY ART POST OF WORK/SERIES FOR ALL OF 2021.

MANDALA SERIES
I am inspired to design mandalas as a form of meditation therapy and when inspired by certain photographic moments that inspire energy, focus, life cycles and ultimately eternity. A mandala is a geometric configuration of symbols with a very different application. In modern, typically American and European use, "mandala" has become a generic term for any circle ornament which can be used as a relaxing tool, for diagnostic evaluation or in art therapy.
In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of practitioners and adepts, as a spiritual guidance tool, for establishing a sacred space and as an aid to meditation and trance induction. It is used as a map (in Shintoism) in the Indian religions of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism or Japanese religion of Shintoism representing deities, or in the case of Shintoism, paradises, kami or actual shrines. In New Age, the mandala is a diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a time-microcosm of the universe, but it originally meant to represent wholeness and a model for the organizational structure of life itself, a cosmic diagram that shows the relation to the infinite and the world that extends beyond and within minds and bodies. A mandala in ones space can serve as a vortex through which we receive and give energy.

MULTI MEDIA ACROSS MULTIPLE MEDIUMS
Inspired by a true artist in the fashion world and textiles as a medium I’m in the process of creating custom jackets from original pieces. This particular jacket showcase an original work on glass, Stephen Alexander Mcqueen. A mashup portrait of Hollywood Great Stephen McQueen in the style of couture fashion icon Alexander McQueen. The butterfly overlay is influenced by Alexander’s love of the pattern as subject and representational metamorphosis of rebirth.
STEPHEN
Terrence Stephen McQueen (March 24, 1930 – November 7, 1980) was an American actor. McQueen was nicknamed "The King of Cool", and his antihero persona developed at the height of the counterculture of the 1960s made him a top box-office draw during the 1960s and 1970s. McQueen received an Academy Award nomination for his role in The Sand Pebbles. His other popular films include The Cincinnati Kid, Love with the Proper Stranger, The Thomas Crown Affair, Bullitt, The Getaway, and Papillon, as well as the all-star ensemble films The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, and The Towering Inferno. In 1974, he became the highest-paid movie star in the world, although he did not act in films again for four years. McQueen was combative with directors and producers, but his popularity placed him in high demand and enabled him to command large salaries
ALEXANDER
Lee Alexander McQueen, (17 March 1969 – 11 February 2010) was a British fashion designer and couturier. He worked as chief designer at Givenchy from 1996 to 2001, and founded his own fort Alexander McQueen label in 1992. His achievements in fashion earned him four British Designer of the Year awards (1996, 1997, 2001 and 2003), as well as the CFDA's International Designer of the Year award in 2003. McQueen died by su***de in 2010, at the age of 40, at his home in Mayfair, London. McQueen's early runway collections developed his reputation for controversy and shock tactics (earning the title "l'enfant terrible" and "the hooligan of English fashion"), with trousers aptly named "bumsters" and a collection titled "Highland R**e". In 2004, journalist Caroline Evans also wrote of McQueen's "theatrical staging of cruelty", in 032c magazine, referring to his dark and tortured renderings of Scottish history. McQueen was known for his lavish, unconventional runway shows: a recreation of a shipwreck for his spring 2003 collection; spring 2005's human chess game; and his autumn 2006 show "Widows of Culloden", which featured a life-sized hologram of supermodel Kate Moss dressed in yards of rippling fabric.
MCQUEEN
Etymology: There have been several differing etymologies given for the surname. One view is that it is an Anglicized form of the Gaelic MacShuibhne, which means "son of Suibhne". The Gaelic name Suibhne is a byname, which means "pleasant". This Gaelic name was also used as a Gaelic equivalent of the Old Norse byname Sveinn, which means "boy". Another view is that the Anglicized surname is derived from the Gaelic MacCuinn, meaning "son of Conn". The Gaelic personal name Conn is composed of an Old Celtic element meaning "chief". Another suggested origin of the Anglicized surname is from the Gaelic MacCuithein.
THE SYNTHESIS OF THIS POP DATA YILEDS A NEW ICON FOR THE AGES… STEPHEN ALEXANDER MCQUEEN.

The Wonder Years. 1974 explained…
Life in 1974 was dominated by classic rock concerts, cinema, television and political upheaval. People had to go out for entertainment and enjoyed carnivals, picnics, amusement parks and road trips. The rubix cube was invented in 1974 and is the anchor for the piece. I wanted to create a 3 dimensional virtual city that would help bring to life the energy and graphic design celebrated during the height of classic rock. I was inspired by album covers, concert posters, fabric colors and combinations, typography and the great graphic designers of the time Olivetti, Milton Glaser, and Saul Bass. These were all influencers but I wanted to put a contemporary spin on the piece, well organized and with purpose as thought the unfolding rubix cubes were in the process of being solved. Pre Internet, television was the main source of at home entertainment. The front face of the central cube is made up 8 popular shows and 1 TV commercial. These shows either began or ended in 1974 and include, the Brady bunch (placed in the middle to suggest a cube within a cube) Good Times, Land of the Lost, Little house on the Prairie, Six million dollar man, Rockford Files, Happy days, and a popular dog food commercial. The average number of TV channels in 1974 in an American home was 9. The TV cube also doubles as the front of A Bart train, which began trans bay service between Oakland and San Francisco in 1974. Print advertising was huge at the time in the form of billboards, posters, and flyers. The popular toy magna doodle has been used as a city billboard to promote the biggest story of the year: The resignation of Richard Nixon. The lower front wall of the piece contains some of the great music artists, songs and albums of the time and was inspired by city walls, which were plastered, weathered, and plastered with concerts posters, and album announcements. Some of the Artists and Songs include David Bowie, The Joker, Eric Clapton, Rush, Queen, Abba, Kiss, The Ramones, Blind faith and the genesis of the Punk rock movement: Patty Smith. Above that the pocket calculator was the lead tech item introduced that year and the number on the calculator is 4,000,000,000. The human population hit that landmark in 1974. To the left of that is a classic VW bug which represents both the lighter and darker side of 1974. 53 was the number of Disney’s racecar Herby but the skull and cross bones in the drivers seat are a nod to Americas most infamous Serial Killer Ted Bundy who claimed 6 victims that year. Behind the car are Patty Hearst and Monty Python which made its hugely popular debut that year. It was also the year that everybody was Kung Foo fighting. 1974 was a huge year in Cinema and the movie house is actually the home from Amityville horror. Leading Films at the time advertised on the marquee include, The great Gatsby, Murder on the Orient Express, Benji, and a popular B movie (one of many many B movies made in the 70’s) PETS. In the distance is a tornado, 1974 was the super outbreak of tornadoes in the US, the most destructive ever, and is ringed with the Van Halen logo that was taking the country by storm. The far left building (12 rubix cubes) showcases some of the most popular people at the time as well as those who were born or died in 1974. The faces have been jumbled as though the puzzle has yet to be solved and include Alanis Morisset, Sonny, Cher, Kate Moss, mama Cass, Leonardo and a few others. In the distance the skyscraper is the One World trade Center which was completed that year. It is beginning to smoke as a nod to the classic Towering Inferno and the woman walking away from it is Carrie, Stephen king’s classic first novel. The heart is made from the classic game Connect Four which was introduced that year. There are a number of other parts and pieces to the puzzle but if I solved them all it wouldn’t be true to Rubik. 😉
This series allows me to tell the story of the year in the style of the year. Currently working on 1984. Other years can be seen at jwagart.com

AI QUERIED PANORAMAS ON GLASS
How do people experience color? The human eye and brain together translate light into color. Light receptors within the eye transmit messages to the brain, which produces the familiar sensations of color. ... Rather, the surface of an object reflects some colors and absorbs all the others. We perceive only the reflected colors. I believe different people experience color to varying degrees in hue, saturation and tone. As a visual person the world has always appeared highly saturated to me. I believe people who are more auditory may not interpret color with the intensity that I do. As so much of our visual language has moved from the CMYK to RGB Universe much of how color is interpreted is decided by algorithm. This series investigates how AI interprets visual data in terms of color. A query using search Red (255,0,0), Green (0,255,0) and Blue (0,0,255) of 4 million photos across my collections yields “red”, “green” and “blue” as determined by the computer. With over 16 million colors online comprised of only three color, RGB, technology is allowing us to experience color in a way we never have before.
