When I made this dance, "Missed Connections", I was thinking about the missed connections section in the classified ads and on craigslist. I was thinking about how life can get in the way of a potential moment of connection, and the yearning and solitude that results from those missed moments.
I was commissioned by SHIFT, Dance Arts & Media to set this piece on their dancers, in 2 summer residencies in a row, that gave me the opportunity to turn this ensemble work into a 2-part piece. With the talent of the dancers, the vibes of Gibney, and the richness of the topic, I could have turned this into an evening-length ballet (in fact you know what, bring me back, Cherri!).

A dance with the architecture of the front of The Bass Museum in Miami Beach 🥰
I love it here. It makes me feel nostalgic! In 2016, I was commissioned by Dance NOW Miami to perform a piece of mine on a stage that was constructed at this very location.
