Here in South Florida a quinceañera is something to celebrate! In its 15th edition, the Daniel Lewis Dance Sampler keeps its promise to present a season opener of the local dance community in spite of the uphill funding climate facing arts groups at the moment.

From ballet to modern, contemporary to flamenco, the Sampler showcases exciting short pieces and excerpts, and launches the season of dance in South Florida. This year’s program features Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, BFLR - Ballet Flamenco La Rosa Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami, Dance NOW Miami, Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami, Karen Peterson & Dancers and the New World Dance Ensemble Nwsa Dance

The Dance Sampler will also include awards to honor the South Florida media outlets and journalists who regularly cover the arts and dance performances. Awards will be given out during the show. Organizations, and their editors and writers, being recognized include Orlando Taquechel, Michelle Solomon, Harvey Burstein and Christine DiMattei of Artburst Miami , English and Spanish editions, ; and WLRN Public Radio, as well as their writers.

The free reception, open to all ticket holders, begins at 7:00 pm with drinks and light refreshments. Come to mingle with the awardees!
