Florida residents have until Monday to register to vote or change their party affiliation for the Aug. 18 primary election. Because Florida is a closed primary state, voters must be registered with a political party by the deadline to participate in that party's primary for races including governor, U.S. Senate, state Cabinet, Congress and the Legislature.

Mail ballots are already being sent to voters who requested them, and several nonpartisan local and judicial races will be open to all voters regardless of party affiliation. As of June 30, Florida had more than 13.4 million registered voters.

The report identifies these families under the acronym ALICE, which stands for Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed. According to the findings, 56% of the county's families fall into this category.
