Right Place, Right Time!

While on patrol Saturday afternoon, a U.S. Coast Guard Station Tybee boat crew encountered a good Samaritan towing a vessel that was taking on water with seven people aboard.

The boat crew transferred a crewmember and a dewatering pump to the sinking vessel to help control the flooding. The boat crew transferred all seven passengers to their small boat, established a side tow and safely transported the vessel to Houlihan Boat Ramp in Georgia.

Our U.S. Coast Guard Southeast District Coast Guard crews are trained, equipped and ready to save lives and protect our waterways every day.

A U.S. Coast Guard Station Port Canaveral boat crew assisted 4 people aboard a 20-foot vessel taking on water 12 miles offshore Cape Canaveral, Saturday.

The boat crew arrived on scene and helped dewater the vessel while escorting it back to shore. With assistance from the boat crew, the vessel safely returned to Sunrise Marina, where it was hauled out of the water.

The Coast Guard reminds mariners heading offshore to routinely inspect their vessels, ensure bilge pumps are functioning properly and file a float plan with a trusted contact before leaving the dock.
