A cluster of sales - a tombstone for a community, working titles. This came to me on a recent drive up Jimmy Buffet Memorial Hwy, from Wabasso Beach to a Melbourne waffle house. So many properties listed for sale and for rent, in some areas the signs are so clustered together you can't actually read them. I imagined them sprouting from the ground. Questions happens when to town when all too many owners have primary homes elsewhere or too many residents are displaced at once.

I end up rendering it in white marble - the preferred sales listing material with a granite base, so the posts end up appearing as disfigured crosses. The death of the neighborhood is a recurring theme and something I'm fighting against in my daily practice. 2025_0428

Punto Plaza - Miami FC Stadium 2013 - Seating View and Park Arcade View

This project was conducted as a research exercise to explore potential locations for the Miami CF's stadium, while is was at the University of Miami School of Architecture

Unrelated to the project but happening at the time, there was a lot of discussion about the Miami Marine Stadium and efforts to either restore or demolish it. In this scenario, it had been demolished.

Drawing inspiration from the openness and geometry of the structure adjacent to the bay, I envisioned an abstract oyster.

The structural method employed by Hilario Candela in the Miami Marine Stadium became an integral part of my stadium proposal with some modifications. Our goal was to achieve clear and unobstructed views of the games in a relatively small seating venue, while maintaining a low profile to avoid competing with the two iconic buildings adjacent to the Museum Park, the American Airlines Arena (Now the Kesaya Center) and PAMM (Perez Art Museum Miami), which had recently been completed.

Ultimately the stadium location was selected on the Miami Dade Golf Course, just East of Miami International Airport.
