Antonella sings in her first place performance “In my dreams” from the musical, Anastasia. This was such a great moment, and I was so proud as her teacher. We only see the performance but so much work went into this. Congrats to all of the competitors! Everyone was so talented for their ages. This is Valerie Gonzalez my 12 years old student from The Miami Dance and Music Academy’s winter Recital singing “Stone Cold” by Demi Lavato. If any of you have tried to sing this, you can appreciate the difficulty in belting this high. She’s actually belting in a “mixed” place, very lightly, in order to achieve this in a healthy way. Notice that the resonance stays pretty even as she ascends upward getting “lighter but not lesser” as my teacher would say. The effect is a powerful, spontaneous, full sound, even though it might not sound or feel like that in the singers mind. Great Job Valerie!
