The number one rule drilled into me while I learned how to counsel behavior change was the importance of meeting people where they are
Fun fact: people (seemingly) are more likely to start taking a multivitamin or protein powder before they start paying close attention to their nutrition or fixing their sleep
Are they focusing on the trees and missing the forest? Eh, maybe
Overhauling their entire lifestyle is gonna take time though and if their first step in doing that is deciding to take creatine along with their friends, then I am 100% for it
And if you want to turn people off and away from you, then launching into a lecture of the importance of Whole Foods when someone just asks about vitamins is a good way to do it
Meet people where they are. Supplements, in general, likely will have no negative side effects besides their cost, and probably are the first things people are willing to try
Note: can we also stop calling protein powder a supplement? I get it, but it’s more a food than a supplement - do you call pancake mix a supplement? No you do not
As a general rule, if you think you’re going deep enough…
