Broken Canvas
04/28/2026
Sexual abuse is more common than many realize and often underreported. In the United States, over 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men experience some form of sexual violence in their lifetime, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Many cases are never reported, meaning the real numbers are even higher.
This is why language matters. Jokes, comments, or behaviors, even when unintentional, that make someone uncomfortable are not harmless. They normalize and trivialize sexual assault, and that is unacceptable so, let us be mindful of how we speak and treat one another.
Being able to survive abuse doesn’t mean it was ever okay.
Your voice matters. Speak up for yourself, your friends, and your loved ones, especially those who cannot defend themselves.

Silence protects harm. Speaking up creates change. 🫂🫶🏽✨
Too often, survivors of sexual abuse are made to feel like silence is safer. But silence only protects the harm, not you.
Do not return to environments that broke you.
Do not allow the pain of abuse to silence you or restrict your future growth.
Your voice is power. Your story is valid. Your healing matters.
Sometimes, stepping into your full potential requires choosing a different path and making away forward.
One that prioritizes your peace, your safety, and your truth.
At Broken Canvas, we stand for awareness, advocacy, and healing. If you see something, say something, and If you’ve been through something, know that you are allowed to rise beyond it.
Between May 2023 – April 2024 about 1.4 million people experienced sexual offenses in Nigeria.
Looking at the statistics; do you think more education and awareness programs could reduce sexual violence?
we believe awareness is the first step toward healing and change.
From our local communities to global conversations, Broken Canvas is committed to using creativity and compassion to shine light on issues that impact overall public health concerns. Every story shared, and every life touched brings us one step closer to a more informed and empowered society.
Knowledge creates change and together we can turn awareness into action. 🫶🏽🌍🎨
🚨This month we remind our communities of something very important 🧑🏫
🗣️Speaking up protects you and others!
🙇🏾Silence allows harm to continue. Courage interrupts it.
If you see something that doesn’t feel right, say something.
If someone trusts you enough to share their story, believe them.
📌Consent must always be clear, willing, and respected.
❌Coercion is NOT consent
❌ Pressure is NOT consent
❌ Manipulation is NOT consent
❌ “No” does NOT mean keep asking
Respecting boundaries is not optional — it is essential for safety and dignity.
At Broken Canvas, we encourage everyone to treat survivors with empathy, patience, and integrity. Survivors deserve support, not judgment. Healing begins when communities listen, protect, and stand together. 🫶🏽🌎✨
