Don’t Forget About Us

GOAT…too often we use that phrase for too many. The use has become hyperbole at best, grossly inaccurate at worst. After all, “greatest” can only be applied to one. And yet for you Quincy Deelight Jones the phrase GOAT while completely accurate is far too small to describe who you were as a creative, a humanitarian, & standard bearer of what it meant to make music that made the world better.

Every producer who I take seriously, who I’ve worked with held you as their North Star. You were the barometer for what it meant to be a producer and not just a beat maker. You were our lighthouse. You were the bar that we all set out to chase. We were all motivated enough to match your results and at the same time humble enough to know that we never would. For you were timeless Q! How else does a 50 year old “jazz” guy make the biggest album of all time!?

Every producer I know along with me is heartbroken & crying tears right now. And at the same time we are all filled with gratitude to have known your gift. And those of us blessed enough to have known you are forever better for it. Thank you for being our North Star. Thank you for setting the bar that we aspired to reach. Thank you, thank you, thank you for the music!!
