I have been blessed with the most beautiful life. I grew up poor, but with each year that passed from my 2nd birthday on, life only became richer. I never went without anything that truly mattered. My parents were the most loving in the world. They made me feel safe—so safe, in fact, that I have never felt that same kind of protection again since leaving their nest.

They taught us strong morals, the importance of faith, and how to serve others. We attended church, helped families in need, and learned empathy by living it. My brothers and sisters and I have all had our ups and downs, but at our core, we are compassionate, grateful, and blessed.

And I especially feel blessed, knowing that when my time comes, I will be welcomed with open arms by the greatest soul I have ever had the honor of calling my child. Dear Lord, thank You for my children and my beautiful grandchildren, each and every one of them. Amen.
