🥕 Start with Just One Bite! 🥕

Did you know that a simple step like taking a bite of a carrot (or any convenient vegetable) at the start of each meal can set you on the path to better heart health? It might sound small, but small changes lead to big results over time.

Research shows that ⅓ of teenagers are already on the road to heart disease, but it doesn’t have to be that way. By introducing just one bite of a vegetable with every meal—even breakfast—you’re taking a powerful step toward reversing that trend. It’s easy, affordable, and a great way to start building healthier habits, one meal at a time.

Both kids and adults can benefit from this “starter-nutrition” tip. And if you’re already eating veggies regularly, consider adding an extra bite to your plate! The goal is to gradually increase your intake of whole foods and decrease processed options, leading to a healthier, stronger you over the years.

Take that first bite today—it could make all the difference.

The Emotional Ladder (Handout page 53) is a reminder that it's okay if we can't leap from sadness to happiness instantly.
