Did you know that Plusurbia Design has been advocating for a safe streets redesign of Calle Ocho (SW 8th Street) for over a decade?
WLRN Public Radio and Television featured the story this morning. If you missed it, check out the article:

These stunning pop-up crosswalks were painted by the Miccosukee Indian School middle and high school students yesterday, based on designs they created in their art classes last week.
These beautiful crosswalks celebrate the heritage of their community and the importance - and joy - of safe streets that make walking possible for children and young adults.
Thank you Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida for having the UHealth WalkSafe Program in your community and for the continued Safe Streets for All partnership.
P.S.: Don't forget, today is the BikeSafe rodeo in the Village, going on right now until 2pm.

"The neighborhood secured tactical urbanism grants from the city in December. Now, those barriers block off the south lane of the Calvary Street bridge connecting Fountain Square and Fletcher Place.
It's a trial run to see if a long-term project would be useful.
'I think for a lot of neighbors, it's really great to see something that was planned and executed pretty quickly, and it's here and it's already making a difference,' Pawlicki said."

An amazing yesterday with Ben Sheppard Elementary, celebrating a 20 year partnership with Miami-Dade County Public Schools to bring street safety education, information, and inspiration to the children of Miami-Dade County and its municipalities.
Thank you to everyone who came to support and speak about safe, active mobility for our youths and who continue to support the program two decades on.
