Many South Floridians reported hearing and feeling unusual rumbles on June 8, prompting a wave of social media posts across Miami-Dade and beyond.

According to the National Weather Service, the shaking was linked to a powerful 6.1 magnitude earthquake that struck off the coast of Cuba. While no significant impacts were reported locally, the tremors were felt across parts of South and Central Florida.

Events like this are rare in our area, making the experience especially surprising for many residents.
