I was recently asked what I think Lee County will look like 250 years from now. My answer immediately went to Conservation 20/20.
Why? Because through decades of land conservation efforts, our program alone has helped preserve more than 31,000 acres of natural land for future generations. And that's just Conservation 20/20.
When you include lands protected by federal and state agencies, nonprofit organizations, and private landowners, Lee County has preserved an incredible 141,758 acres of land.
That's roughly 27% of the entire county!๐ฎ
๐คThink about that for a moment. More than one out of every four acres in Lee County has been set aside for conservation, helping protect wildlife habitat, water resources, and the natural beauty that makes this place special.๐ณ
To help visualize it, take a look at the map below.๐ Every color you see represents conservation land. Those protected areas are part of a legacy that will continue benefiting our community not just today, but potentially for centuries to come.
When I think about what Lee County may look like 250 years from now, I hope these preserved lands are still telling the story of a community that chose to invest in its future.
๐บ๐ธ250 years ago, a bold idea changed the world.
On July 4, 1776, our Founding Fathers declared that every person is created equal and endowed by our Creator with the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. They believed freedom was worth fighting for, and their courage gave birth to the greatest nation the world has ever known.
For 250 years, America has been a beacon of hope, opportunity, and self-government. We've faced challenges, overcome adversity, and continued to prove that the American spirit is stronger than any obstacle.
What makes our nation great is believing that our founding principles are worth protecting, that freedom is a gift worth preserving, and that each generation has a responsibility to leave our country stronger than they found it.
As we celebrate this historic milestone, let's honor the brave men and women who have defended our freedoms, remember the sacrifices that built this nation, and recommit ourselves to the values that make America unique.
May God continue to bless the United States of America, and may the next 250 years be filled with the same courage, faith, and determination that have defined our nation from the very beginning.
Happy 250th Anniversary, America! ๐บ๐ธ๐
