Destroying the planet is now a crime in France. They call it “ecocide” — and it can mean prison.
France has passed a new law that treats severe environmental destruction as a crime, not just a regulatory fine. The law, targeting “ecocide,” applies to cases where companies or individuals knowingly cause serious, lasting harm to ecosystems. Penalties can include major fines and prison sentences. This doesn’t criminalize small mistakes — it’s aimed at the worst polluters who have historically paid fines as a cost of doing business while rivers, forests, and wildlife suffer. France’s move reframes large-scale environmental damage as a criminal act, potentially setting a precedent for future environmental law worldwide.

She died alone in her London flat. 3 years later, the TV was still on.
Joyce Carol Vincent was 38 when she died alone in her North London apartment in December 2003. The cause was likely natural, possibly an asthma attack or ulcer. But no one noticed. For nearly three years, her body remained on the sofa while life went on around her in the busy building. Rent went unpaid, but system delays meant no one checked the flat until January 2006. When housing officers entered, they found Joyce, the TV still on, and wrapped Christmas gifts she never got to give. Neighbors had smelled something strange but assumed it was garbage. Her story, later told in the documentary Dreams of a Life, became a stark reminder of how isolation can exist even in crowded cities.

“Albania is not for sale.” Thousands protest claims that land was sold to the US and Israel.
Thousands of Albanians have taken to the streets after reports surfaced alleging that parts of the country’s territory were sold to the United States and Israel. Protesters filled roads waving Albanian flags, chanting, and carrying signs that read “Israel Go Away” and “Our Land in Albania Is Not for Sale.”
The demonstrations center on a single demand: transparency. For many citizens, the idea that national land could be treated as a backroom business deal struck a nerve. Protesters say sovereignty, dignity, and national identity aren’t negotiable — and that major decisions about land must involve the public.
While government officials have not confirmed any such sale, the anger reflects a deeper frustration with perceived secrecy and lack of accountability from those in power. For the people in the streets, this is about more than one alleged deal. It’s a stand to make sure Albania’s land, history, and future can’t be signed away without the voice of Albanians being heard.

He was wanted by police. Then he sent them a better selfie... and they used it to arrest him.
A wanted man in Lima, Ohio just made one of the most self-sabotaging moves of the year.
Donald Pugh was being sought by police for failing to appear in court on a previous DUI charge. Instead of laying low, he messaged the department on social media — to complain about his mugshot.
Pugh told officers the photo they posted to the public “looked terrible” and helpfully attached a new selfie for them to use. The Lima Police Department thanked him for the assist and posted the updated picture to their official page.
It worked a little too well. Shortly after the exchange, tips from the public came in and Pugh was taken into custody.
Vanity got the better of him. He wanted better PR for his warrant photo, and police got better intel for their arrest.
