David Leddick was my mentor & my friend. He passed at 93 years old on Sunday March 19, 2023.

When I first moved to Miami in 2010 Reniel & Micheal Reniel N' Michael introduced me Jen Page to David.

I met with David every Sunday as he wanted to start a “blog”. He didn’t really know or care about what a blog was, but he wanted to do it!

Writing over 20+ books just wasn’t enough for him. He was in his 80s and kept creative and active ~ riding his bike around Miami Beach and was always an inspiration to me: davidsgaydish.blogspot.com

He would type on the typewriter!!! (Omg I loved this so much) and pass me his typed up “blog” posts. I would retype it into the computer and post to his blog.

It was a honor as a graphic designer and creative director myself to not only be friends but work 1x a week for a few years for the former Worldwide Creative Director of Grey advertising for Revlon in New York.

He was a BIG deal and he knew it! LOL Yet also SO humble and so kind. And he wanted you to remember that within yourself… that you are a big deal!!! He had a huge soft spot for animals and women.

There were many things I loved about him ~ his wit, his smile, his laugh, his advice on men, his Buddhist views on life, his little rescue dog Sophie that hated us all LOL (she bit me all the time then sort of became my friend) and like us all, loved him so much.

We also interviewed people about their own personal “coming out” stories. I was the gal behind the camera 🎥 You can find those on YouTube if you search “David’s Gay Dish”

I had my camera and tripod and it was such a joy for me to spend every Sunday with David and people he interviewed and hear their personal life stories.

We talked for years about life, about love, about work and as I’ve seen so many people post on his page… he absolutely shaped the person I am today.

He reminded me to be humble but fabulous, to be kind and witty, to stay positive and remember life truly is beautiful.

He left a huge beautiful mark on my soul and all of those that knew him well. He was an angel here on earth…
