There was a war in my country when I was 5. My family and I had to leave our home and everything we knew. There is no deeper sense of not belonging than not being welcome at your own home.

We moved across the border to look for safer place BUT we were met with a rejection, fingers pointing at how different we were and why we don’t belong.

That left deep scars, feeling of not-being-safe-to-be-me and big walls to protect myself.
