Cindy Crawford… where do I even start?

Like so many teenagers back then, my bedroom walls were covered with posters of Madonna, Rob Lowe, and Revlon ads. I would stay up late watching MTV, recording music videos on VHS tapes, and of course watching Cindy’s show.

What I didn’t know then was that one day I would end up photographing almost every girl from those Revlon posters.

This was my first time photographing Cindy Crawford. Vogue sent me to Malibu, and honestly… I was nervous. In that moment, she probably knew more about lighting than I did.

When I look back at these images now, I see my lack of experience, the imperfect lighting, all the things I would do differently today. But what I also see is Cindy giving everything to every single frame — performing as if I were the best photographer in the world.

“Supermodel,” people would say. Incredible professional, I would say.
