We are the oldest eye care center in the State of Louisiana yet are committed to continue our role as the leading innovator in the field of eye care by investing in the newest proven technologies to preserve sight.
Caplan Eye Clinic was proud to open the 1st In-Office Cataract Surgery Suite in Louisiana by our own Dr. Brendon Sumich in 2022.
And Caplan Eye Clinic was the 1st eye center in the U. S. in 2024 to offer the breakthrough Valeda Therapy for Macular Degeneration by Dr. Chad Caplan.

Dr. Brendon Sumich, Surgical Director of Caplan Eye Clinic, welcomes several hundred eye surgeons from around the U.S. to the opening today of the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology’s Annual Symposium.
The Academy is celebrating it’s 75th Anniversary this weekend with scientific sessions on cataract surgery & other eye topics.
Dr. Brendon Sumich was the Presiding Officer at today’s meeting and participated with other national leaders in cataract surgery.
