Last night, the New Glenn explosion near Cape Canaveral was powerful enough to register as a magnitude 2.5 seismic event.
Think about that for a moment.
A rocket anomaly generated enough energy to be detected on the same scale used to measure earthquakes.
While this was an unfortunate setback for Blue Origin, it’s also a reminder of the immense power involved in modern launch systems and the incredible engineering required to safely reach space.
Spaceflight is hard. Every test, success, setback, and investigation contributes to future progress.
The fact that this event registered as a measurable seismic occurrence is a powerful illustration of the scale of today’s launch vehicles and the challenges teams continue to overcome as we push the boundaries of exploration.
