First Steps

Incoming Hurricane Prep –

- Take pictures of exterior of home, the elevations and roof (from the ground). You are trying to capture the condition and materials.
- Take pictures of the interior of the home, each room overall and ceilings. Overall and overview from each corner is recommended. Also capture ceilings, here you are trying to show that there are no water stains.
- Lastly with pictures, serial numbers of items, try and record these things if possible.
​Now we recommend you take video walking around your home, open the drawers, the closets, and make sure you record the garage. Here you are capturing the contents, you will not remember everything you had when filling out a loss report. The other reason for this is, should a flood effect your home and the contents of building wash out into lawn, the items will not be covered under the flood policies. Only items inside building foundation are covered.
​Turn off the breaker, lock the door and leave. Material items are replaceable; you are not.
